New Client Profile: Shicreta Murray and Passion-4-Purpose Publications

religious, book, christianity, inspirationalOur team recently edited two books for inspirational speaker and author, Shicreta Murray.  We’re very excited for April 20th, 2014 when her new books will be published!  Check out her teaser pages on her personal website and on her publication company, Passion-4-Purpose.  Here’s what some of her readers are saying:

Readers of Hear the Sound:

“In my life time I have experienced all the emotions written in this book. I can tell you first hand that emotions can be dangerous, deadly, and can rob you of the life God intended. Emotions are not to be taken lightly and brokenness is an epidemic. I feel blessed that Shicreta has shed light on this subject.”
− K. Cihal

“This book has helped me to see clearer and helped me to realize that false humility is foolish. Belief and confidence are blessings to accept. It does not mean it’s pride!”
− S. Collins

Readers of Confessions of Hear the Sound:

“Shicreta does such a wonderful job of explaining how thought, word, and deed creates our reality and how simple it truly is to asend through our pain through God inspired thought, word, and action. Great Job!
− L. Cain Hobson

“I really enjoyed Confessions of Hear the Sound. It is very easy to read and understand. I highly recommend this book. Shicreta did a wonderful job.”
− Pastor G. Cain

We wish her the best of luck with Hear the Sound and Confessions of Hear the Sound!

Three of the Most Important Books You’ll Ever Read

Are you bored? Unfulfilled? Tired all the time? Maybe it’s time to stop watching Jerry Springer and to get your hand out of that Cheetos bag!

Remember that teacher that always used to bug you the most? Here are my recollections:

Me: ZZZZZZZZ
Teacher: Hey! Billy! Wake up!
Me: Zzzz . . . me learn in sleep . . .
Teacher: Right. Why don’t you wipe that drool and read a book?
Me (stirring): What?
Teacher (pointing at the most popular girl in school): Buffy McGraw just said she likes guys who read a lot . . .
Me (using my scrawny arms to push myself upright): Really? Okay! Gimmie a book!

And that lie, my friends, is how an English teacher is born. I fell for the one that chicks dig poetry too, but that’s a story for another day . . .

Onward.

Maybe you’re bored at school, work, home. It doesn’t matter. If you want to overcome your ennui, you should read a book start a business! Either that or buy some guns. It’s the American way!

I’m not joking that entrepreneurship should be viewed the way the NRA does gun ownership. It’s an inalienable right, it protects you from big business, big government, and all threats foreign and domestic, and it’s a lot of fun! Plus owning your own business is really sexy.

Wouldn’t she make a great librarian?

So here are the three most inspiring books that any would-be business owner should read.

The $100 Startup

I talk about this book with everyone I know. It explains some of the main principles of how to start a microbusiness and explores the main benefits of working for yourself and doing something you love. Chris Guillibeau writes clearly and profoundly that you can’t rely on business or government to support you through retirement. You need to take care of yourself! Thanks to the new connection economy it’s never been easier to start a business, and thanks to the resources anyone can access on the Internet, it’s never been less expensive!

Good to Great

This is the seminal text that’s on the bookshelf of every CEO, school principal, non-profit administrator, basketball coach, and millions of other aspiring leaders. Jim Collins and his team are famous for their work on how merely good companies worked to become great companies. But what’s often overlooked is how this book applies to individual excellence. By learning to lead, to specialize in what you’re passionate about, and to plan and repeat simple actions, you can become wildly successful in your chosen field. For this reason and many others, Good to Great cannot be ignored if you want to become an entrepreneur.

The Icarus Deception

If a business book can teach, inspire, and even change your life, this is it. Marketing expert Seth Godin says this was his hardest book he ever wrote–his masterwork–and it’s meant to get you to pursue your business, work, and other endevours as art. Not the type of art that gets hung in galleries but the work that’s important to you, that leaves you vulnerable, that we need you to share with others. Even if you’re not interested in business or entrepreneuership, you really should read this book!

Bonus Book!

Every business needs good writing, right? So if you want to bootstrap your way to success–or if you want to know more about how I can help you with your own marketing–take a look at the one and only Proof Rocks! Guide to Writing. Another New Site Launch!

People are usually surprised when a father is involved in his child’s life. They’re shocked if he is fit, vibrant, and up for anything. Be it challenging yourself in the weightroom or the boardroom, being the best you can be is essential to your child’s well being. Who else will inspire them to chase their dreams?

That’s why I’ve started Jacked Dad. If you like all the fitness and nutrition tips on this site, but you’d like to learn more about how to fit them into the wonderful craziness that is fatherhood, then check out Jacked Dad!

Sorry this has kept me away from this blog for awhile. There was a lot of heartfelt writing that went into even the first few posts. That, and the actually parenting thing takes up a bit of time! Anyway, check out my new site. There’s lots of great stuff to come!
